By Lucia earrings are crafted with high-quality metals, primarily 925 sterling silver finished with 18k gold vermeil (gold plating). Sterling silver is nickel-free, so the gold-plated pieces are hypoallergenic and perfect for sensitive ears.

Some designs are available in solid gold or in 18k gold plated stainless steel — the latter offers extra durability and water/sweat resistance for worry-free wear. We also do custom 18k or 24k gold and lab-grown diamond options.

All materials are chosen to be gentle on skin yet long-lasting and lightweight for comfortable all-day (and night) wear.

Almost all By Lucia earrings are sold as pairs — you'll receive a complete set for both ears. You won't have to purchase a second earring. If a design is sold as a single (rare), it'll be noted on the product page.

It depends on the material. Our 18k gold plated stainless steel pieces are water, sweat, and tarnish-resistant — wear them in the shower, at the gym, or even in the ocean without worry.

For 18k gold vermeil on sterling silver styles, we recommend removing them before heavy water exposure to preserve the thick gold plating. Sterling silver can naturally tarnish over time, so avoiding long swims or showers will keep them gleaming longer. Occasional splashes or wearing them on a humid day is fine — just dry and clean them afterwards.

Solid gold pieces are safe in water (gold doesn't tarnish), but we still suggest treating any precious jewellery with care.

Store your jewellery in a dry place, ideally in the included By Lucia pouch or box. Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, and hairspray.

To clean, gently wipe gold vermeil with a soft polishing cloth. Stainless steel pieces can be rinsed and patted dry. Solid gold can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a light brush. Proper care will keep your jewellery shining for years.

We also offset our environmental impact by funding the removal of ocean-bound plastic — the equivalent of 500 plastic bottles each month. Most of our designs are produced in small, intentional batches to reduce waste and ensure quality.
