Some designs are available in solid gold or in 18k gold plated stainless steel; the latter offers extra durability and even water/sweat resistance for worry-free wear. We also do custom 18k or 24k gold and lab grown diamond options.

All materials are chosen to be gentle on skin yet long-lasting and lightweight for comfortable all day (and night) wear.

Almost all By Lucia earrings are sold as pairs, meaning you’ll receive a complete set for both ears. You won’t have to purchase a second earring – we’ve got you covered with a beautiful pair in every order! If it is sold as a singular (rare) it will be noted on the product page.

It depends on the material of your pieces. For our special 18k gold plated stainless steel pieces, yes – they are water, sweat, and tarnish-resistant, so you can wear them in the shower, at the gym, or even in the ocean without worry. These pieces are designed for the modern woman on the go and won’t lose their shine easily.

However, for our 18k gold vermeil on sterling silver styles, we recommend removing them before heavy water exposure to preserve the thick gold plating. Sterling silver can naturally tarnish over time, so avoiding long swims or showers will keep those earrings gleaming longer. (Don’t worry – occasional splashes or wearing them on a humid day is fine; just be sure to dry and clean them afterward.

And of course, solid gold pieces are okay in water since gold itself doesn’t tarnish, but we still suggest treating any precious jewelry with care.

Store your jewelry in a dry place, ideally in your included By Lucia pouch or box. Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, and hairspray. To clean, gently wipe gold vermeil with a soft polishing cloth.
